Sam Moore started PYRA in 2020 as a manifestation of what was missing in his own wardrobe; streetwear designs that complimented a lifestyle fuelled with adventure. Having grown up as an ex-pro freestyle skier, Sam’s earliest memories began on the mountain fostering an appreciation for nature and an innate understanding of technical outerwear.

Introduce your business and tell us your story: How did you decide on what to sell, and how did you source your products?

PYRA Is a Mens Technical Apparel brand built for the outdoors. The brand’s Mission is to inspire movement in the Elements.

I felt there was a big gap between the traditional legacy outdoor brands and the streetwear brands of today, so PYRA sits in the middle defining its own niche.

PYRA exists to empower people to live life to their fullest potential. Through cutting edge technology, and functional design we aim to maximize performance, comfort and utility for all of your daily needs.

What were some of the the key milestone moments for your business?

We launched at the start of 2020. We hit $1M in sales in our first year, and have continued to grow over 80% YOY.  We have partnered with retail stores, David Jones, Culture Kings, The Iconic to name a few.

What tools and apps do you use to run your store?

We use  Shopify, Klayvio, Okendo for reviews, Glew for analytics, google ads, Burst SMS, Meta ads and small budget on TikTok.

With the rising Cost of Customer Acquisition through Meta what strategies do you believe are essential for brands to think about to scale growth?

Building community. We have always focused on this. We do Hike club every 8 weeks where our community show up and does a 10km hike with us. Its a great way for us to show up in the outdoors, and meet our community.

Was there an ah huh moment that launched your growth? What was your secret sauce?

Teaming up with Culture Kings at the outset proved pivotal for elevating brand awareness and expanding our reach.

However, we've always had a clear brand identity which has helped us standout and our commitment to our roots of inspiring our community to get outside has helped us get cut through.

Our focus has been on continuous incremental growth, consistently striving to enhance every aspect of our brand experience.

Whether through refining our storytelling, Pop up store, elevating product quality, or enhancing customer support.
